Translations

The sum of human wisdom is not contained in any one language, and no single language is capable of expressing all forms and degrees of human comprehension.

Ezra Pound, The ABC of Reading (1960)

While the Same Page Foundation is in establishment mode, we are only publishing in English.

To make it possible for everyone to access the foundation’s information in a native language or dialect, we intend to add universal translations.

If this sounds impossible, rest assured that expert volunteers who care about providing clear, trustworthy information have met far greater challenges. Wikipedia was also launched only in English, and today has versions (of 1000-or-more entries) in more than 320 languages.

Our intention is to follow in the steps of the Wikimedia Foundation and, ideally, to partner with the organisation and their global community of volunteer editors.

In the meantime, we encourage support for the Wikimedia Foundation and all its projects.

Note: The Wikimedia Foundation is one of the 21 other voices highlighted in this manifesto.

Note: Widely translating information is a key deliverable of the Plan’s Provide essential information facilitation (FP).
